About Kemoll's Italian Restaurant

If you are in the mood for an exceptional dinner, Kemoll's is guaranteed to see you and raise you. Kemoll's is elegant but the service is friendly and welcoming. Glimmering candles mounted in gilt wall sconces cast a muted glow over heavy draperies, softly carpeted floors, starched linen tablecloths, cleverly folded napkins and beautiful oil paintings. (No dress code for patrons.) They specialize in Italian and Mediterranean cuisine, however, steaks, seafood and pasta are part of their large menu. Still owned by the same family since 1927, you can count on the very freshest ingredients presented with panache and artfulness. Try the Fried Artichokes or Homemade Cannelone. This is the place in St. Louis for a memorable evening. Reservations.

If You're from New York Avoid Kemoll's

I'm sorry to say that this is at best an attempt at Italian food. The pasta was not al dente. They used no salt when cooking the pasta, and the pasta was drowning in sauce. My veal was totally camouflaged and completely submerged in a tasty brown wine sauce, but it looked more like a Veal Bouillabaisse instead of what it was supposed to be, Veal Saltimbocca. To add insult to injury, they used process Mozzarella! If you are unfamiliar with processed Mozzarella, it tasted like plastic. My advice, if you are from either coast, or Chicago, when visiting St. Louis, stick to the meat and potato dishes so you are not disappointed. One additional comment: when selecting wine, be prepared to pay up to 260% markup. I purchase a very good bottle of Sartori Amarone for $90. In the store it goes for $35. The view from Kemolls is expensive.

I am also a woman of color and I think Ellen Cusamano and her familiy do a EXCELLENT job at making ALL guest feel at home i go there at least once a month and SWEAR they are always nice and i get GREAT service and the food is hands down the best authenic Italian resturant downtown that I have been to. For better or something along the lines of Kemolls go to the Hill! So now Kemolls is my Favorite Italian resturant in St. Louis You go Ellen Cusamano and family and staff!

just okay for wedding

I had my wedding at Top of the Met this summer. The view was amazing and the food was pretty good. However, a lot of the little details that could have made the day more special were missed. For just a few examples, they served the wrong dessert (which was a pretty big deal because I don't like chocolate and we'd really talked up the italian cream cake) and they didn't set any appetizers aside for the wedding party (who was arriving after the cocktail hour) even after we asked them to. Nothing horrible, but just little things like that. Overall, the day was still amazing, but I think the service could have been better.

The GREAT food and service

Our server was excellent. Never rushed, always there when you wanted her to be. Food was extremely good. It's a very nice and formal atmosphere without the pretentious attitude of staff, ect. While it is a bit pricey, its certainly not over the top for the atmosphere and food Basically it's not cheap, but about what you would expect. Highly recommend this place.
