don't try to use a gift certificate here!!!!!

Posted byNcarrollon 5/28/2009

My husband had gotten me a gift certificate for $100 to this place for a day of beauty. I decided to go for a 1/2 hour massage, a brow shaping and a pedicure. I told the lady this when I set the appointment, and she acted like this was no big deal. When I arrived, I started with the eyebrows. I also noted that the place was nothing like I would expect of a fancy Frontenac salon. The lady was nice, but after she did the eyebrows, she started putting wax on my lip! I have never had nor needed a lip waxing, as i am very fair skinned and fair haired! She said she was sorry and that she wouldn't charge me. I would hope not. Instead of wiping the wax off, she actually pulled it off, so now i have a half inch section above my lip that has shorter fuzz than the rest! The massage after that was fine. I then had the pedicure, and this was the worst part. I don't recall the lady's name, but she had sandy blonde shorter hair and she was probably in her 40's to 50's. She was very snooty to me and said she was used to catering to big names like the Buck family, etc. I pretended to look impressed. When I had told her that my husband was paying for this, she made a comment something to the effect that she hoped I was planning on tipping! Well, I always tip - up to 35% for personal services such as this, but I was very offended. She then proceeded to yank on my little toe and caused a tear in my skin under the toe. She then followed me to the cash register and hovered there while I tried to pay. This was also awful. I had the gift certificate, and a credit card. The lady behind the counter, who I took as the owner, was angry with me because I didn't have cash. She expained that all three of the ladies had to be paid separately, and the gift certificate was a hassle. I told her they should have told my husband that before he bought it, and also told me that when I made the appointment! She said that the next time I came, to make sure I had cash and to be prepared to pay each service separately. I assured her that I would not return until I was a member of the esteemed Buck family! Save your $$ and go somewhere where they really want you as a customer!

Great Spa!

I recommend this spa/salon to anyone who likes to be pampered! You can do it all there. Facial, tanning, hair, massage, etc. I continue to go there because of the services and the friendly staff. It is located in Frontenac, so good area. The facials are wonderful and I love my hair stylist.

Shirley is the best - I have beautiful nails!!

I was very pleased at my experience at James Pearson. The staff at Pearsons is very friendly and professional. I have been going there for about 14 years now. I go to Shirley for my manicures/pedicures. She is very professional and takes great pride in her work. It definitely shows. I get compliments all of the time on my nails (to think I didn't have any when I started). She is so talented!! Her area is so neat and clean. I know her utensils are as well. She is well worth her price and more. I can't thank her enough!!

Why! Why! Why!

Why would anyone ever go to this salon? First the stylists are ancient and so are the hairstyles they produce. The shop looks like it could've used a makeover 20 years ago. Never have I seen a business that has no clue of what good customer service is. They are rude, they curse in front of you, they overcharge for nothing and dont care what your hair looks like in the end as long as they got paid. And please dont ask for them to fix it. They put on their magic glasses and your hair suddenly looks good to them. And come to find out they rob their employees for all of the profits. I paid $450 for my hairstyle and my stylist told me she is only getting $160 of it. To sum it up all I can say is STAY AWAY! And if you have any friends thinking about going here tell them to do the same.

If you are 65+ you will love it!

If you are 65 years or older this place is for you. Everyone in there is my grandmother's age. This place hasn't been redecorated since the early 80's and everything had a coat of dust on it. Extremely tacky!! Being in upscale Frontenac, I thought this salon was going to be chic and trendy but being in my twenties and walking into this place, I was really mad at myself for making an appointment. A lot of the employees smoke right in front of you while working and my shampooer was very unfriendly. I got a highlight and cut and it took over 3 1/2 hours. I was extremely unhappy, I have never spent that amount of time in a salon before for those procedures. The front desk lady was rude when I wanted to put a tip on my debit card because she couldn't "believe I didn't carry cash- every reputable salon requires tips in cash". Funny because I have went to reputable salons before and they never had a problem with that. Very unprofessional! The prices were outrageous as well. My cut and color was outdated to say the least . If you want cool and trendy go to the city or west county. This place is for older adults only.
