Vince and Joe Cunetto were always cooking in the back room of their neighborhood pharmacy. The three legged, two burner countertop stove had to be held up with a coffee cup, but it did the job. Whether it was a big pot of soup or an old family pasta recipe, friends, local doctors, and drugs salesmen would gather in the small back office for a delicious meal.
In 1972, the Cunetto brothers sold the pharmacy. Determined to stay on "The Hill" in the historic Italian section of St. Louis, they opened Cunetto House of Pasta in October 1974. Cunetto's, as it is most commonly called, still remains in the same location and continues to serve the same delicious traditional Italian cuisine since the very beginning.
Over the years, Cunetto's has become a St. Louis tradition. Many families celebrate special occasions at Cunetto's or make Cunetto House of Pasta their regular Friday night restaurant.

My husband and I are from Texas and on our visit to STL the locals suggested Cunetto's. The food was wonderful and well worth the wait. Obviously the STL Lady was on crack when she wrote her review. I agree with the other reviewers that this is one of the best Italian restaurants.

Cunetto House of Pasta has very little full time regular staff particularly in the kitchen. Prospective employees line up each morning outside the kitchen door and are selected that way. I happen to know a neighbor whose son worked at Cunetto and the people he brought into his mothers house were scary. Some go on week long drug binges- Crack is the drug of choice in the kitchen in times past. All this was a few years ago and maybe Cunetto House of Pasta has cleaned up their act. I hope so. I used to enjoy the food there , but since I met some of the past kitchen help I won't eat there anymore.

Cunetto House of Pasta is arguably the BEST Italian Restaurant you will find ANYWHERE!!! The pasta is magnificent and the service is great too. It is always busy and well worth any wait!

Cunetto's is a great place to eat. The portions are large and the food is exceptional. I highly recommend them.
