Designed by the same architect that worked on the Rockefeller Center in New York, the Roberts Orpheum Theater opened in 1917 as a "state of the art" facility to host vaudeville acts. It was converted to a movie theater in the 1960s and renamed The American Theater; after undergoing a major renovation in 2003, it has returned to its former glory and name. Hosting a variety of concerts, shows and private events, the theater is southwest of the Edward Jones Dome.
